Day 2

For our second day in Scotland, Emmy Larison and Allie Schillero will share their experience for the day:

"So, in Scotland during the summer, the sun rises . . . at 4 am. Caden would know; he rose with it. Lucky for me, my room wasn’t facing the sun.

First thing, we all went to Musselburgh Baptist Church for a car wash to raise funds for their student and children's outreach and we became masters of the sponge.

For the rest of the day we were on the beach for a barbeque involving absolutely no barbeque sauce. Some of us embarked on adventures through the trees and over the rocks; most of us got a nice windburn; and all of us enjoyed the beautiful landscape. We also introduced some of our Scottish hosts to the game Signs and learned that when you do a peace sign it MUST be palm out.  Always.

We are wrapping it up hanging out together in one of the host homes for pizza, watching the Premiere Football game. (I like not calling it soccer.)" –Emmy Larison

and from Allie's point of view:

"This morning, after waking up and eating a quick breakfast, we all headed out to the Musselburgh Baptist Church. We learned how to use the churches power tools to wash cars and, despite the chilly weather, we all had a ton of fun. We spent a good amount of time being fascinated by the fact that the drivers side is on the right and the cars drive on the left side of the road.

After the car wash, we stopped back at our host homes to change and freshen up, then we piled back into cars and headed down to the beach. Me, Emmy, Ariana, and a few new friends, Zanna, Becca, and Adele, ventured out into the water, hopping over rocks and stones so we could take pictures. After being a little too consumed with selfies and pictures of the lighthouse, we realized the tide snuck up on us and we had to wade back through the water to the shore. We spent the rest of the afternoon eating delicious hamburgers and hotdogs and playing volleyball and football (soccer) and learning how to fly giant kites.  Now, were wrapping up the day by thanking God for this wonderful opportunity and enjoying some pizza and sports."   –Allie Schillero

Stay tuned for more updates tomorrow!
