Day 1

Today was our first full day in Scotland!  After a long flight through the night, we were happy to be greeted by the smiling faces of our new friends, Miles, Tim, and Jack.  They helped us out of the airport and onto a train to Prestonpans where we met Graham Shearer as well, and settled into our homes for the remainder of the trip.  In a few words, I'll allow a couple of our team members to fill you in on what we did to start our trip:

"After a seemingly endless 7-hour flight to Edinburgh, we stepped off of the plane with baggy eyes. Though tired, we were soon awestruck by the beauty of the city and surrounding country side, and we visited beautiful historical monuments like the nearly 200-year-old Scott Monument. After recuperating back at the host homes, we set out to explore Edinburgh more, and we eventually split up into two groups, one group going with the Musselburgh Baptist Church's teenage ministry to climb to the top of Arthur's Seat, and the other going to the church's Children's ministry (and being quite humbled by the 9-13 year old children, who simply owned us in a good old fashioned soccer match)." - Caden Holke

While half of the group shared Caden's experience with the younger students on the soccer field, the other half of the group took a trip into Edinburgh with the older students...

"Arthur's Seat is a more than 800 foot vertical height, a three mile hike, scattered with ruins of old Scottish forts and a breathtaking view of Edinburgh and part of the North Sea. The climb was accompanied making friends with the other high school members of the Musselburgh Church, making the experience all the more worth while. The only down side was the wind at the top which made it somewhat hard for us to take pictures at this historic and spectacular scene. After a long and very eventful day, we're truly blessed to have made it here safely, and we're very excited to see what God brings to us in the next nine days!" - Jack Brown

Stay posted and we'll have another update for you tomorrow from another two team members!
- Danny
